Gas testing software for safe work, proven on every round.
Plan gas tests before work starts, record every reading against your own limits, and give a clearance only when the air is safe. With re-measurement reminders, detector checks and a tamper-evident audit trail.

Gas testing software records the atmospheric gas tests that must happen before people enter a confined space, start hot work or open equipment. Brytend Gas Testing keeps the request, the readings, the detector used, the signatures and the clearance together in one digital record, instead of on a paper form.
Gas Testing is one part of Brytend, the business operations platform that unifies CRM, Assets, Rentals, Quality, Service, Compliance, Documents, Reporting and AI in one integrated system.
See at a glance where work may start and where it may not
The dashboard shows what still has to be measured, what waits for approval, which clearances are valid, where it is not safe and which re-measurements are overdue.

What goes wrong with gas test forms on paper
A re-measurement is missed
The permit says measure again every four hours. On a busy shutdown nobody keeps the clock, and work goes on in air nobody checked.
The detector was not fit for use
A reading taken with a detector whose calibration expired or whose bump test failed is not valid, but a paper form will not tell you.
No proof after an incident
Forms get lost, numbers get corrected and signatures are missing. After an incident you cannot show what was measured, when and by whom.

Every gas test request in one list
An operator creates a request for the work: the location, the work permit, the gases to test and how often to measure again. The gas analyst measures, Brytend compares every reading with your limits and gives the status: cleared, not safe or waiting for approval.
- One responsible gas analyst per request
- Readings per measuring point, checked against warning and alarm limits
- Optional supervisor approval before work may start
- Next re-measurement shown in red when it is overdue
Only measure with a detector you can trust
Brytend checks the detector when the analyst scans or types its serial number. Green means ready to use. Orange means the calibration expires within 30 days. Red means the calibration expired or the last bump test failed, so the detector cannot be used.
- Any make and model, for example Dräger, MSA or Honeywell
- Calibration date and last bump test per detector
- Detectors come from the installed base of your customers, so the register stays complete

Gas testing features
Your own gas library and limits
Switch on the gases that occur on your site, such as oxygen, flammable gases (LEL), hydrogen sulphide and carbon monoxide, and set your own warning and alarm limits. Starting values for the Netherlands and Germany are included.
Re-measurement reminders
Set how often to measure again. Brytend shows when the next round is due and raises an alert when it is overdue.
Instant alerts
An alarm reading, a revoked clearance, a red detector or a point that could not be measured raises an alert straight away, so the right people can stop the work.
Locations, QR labels and maps
Build your site as a tree of plants, units and equipment, mark ATEX zones, print a QR label per location and see locations on a map.
Drawn signatures
The gas analyst, the supervisor and the permit holder sign on screen. The signatures stay with the request.
Tamper-evident audit trail
Every reading, signature, approval and alert is stored in a hash-chained log, so later changes are visible.
Gas test certificate
Print or share a PDF certificate with the readings, the clearance and the signatures for the people on site.
Weather on the measurement
Record wind speed, wind direction and weather with each round, filled in automatically through the weather plugin.
Measure from your phone
The analyst scans the QR label of the location, enters the readings and signs on a phone or tablet, right where the work happens.
Safe gas clearance in three steps
Request
The operator creates a gas test request for the work, with the location, the gases and the re-measurement interval.
Measure
The gas analyst checks the detector, measures every point and signs. Brytend compares each reading with your limits.
Clear and follow up
Work starts only when the air is safe. Brytend reminds you of every re-measurement until the work is finished and closed.

More than gas testing software
Part of one platform
Gas tests link to your customers and contractors, equipment and service records and controlled procedures, so every test has its context.
Certified and secure
Brytend itself is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified. Read how we protect your information on our security page.
Made for safety companies
Brytend is used by gas detection, rental and inspection companies, so it speaks the language of calibration, bump tests and permits.
Frequently asked questions
What is gas testing software?
Gas testing software records the gas tests that must be done before work in a confined space, hot work or opening equipment. It stores the request, the readings, the detector, the signatures and the clearance in one digital record with an audit trail.
Which gases can I test for?
You choose the gases that occur on your site from the gas library, for example oxygen, flammable gases (LEL), hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia and hydrogen cyanide, and set your own warning and alarm limits.
How does Brytend check the gas detector?
When the analyst scans or types the serial number, Brytend checks the calibration date and the last bump test. Green is ready to use, orange means the calibration expires within 30 days, and red means it expired or the bump test failed.
How long is a gas clearance valid?
A clearance stays valid until it is revoked or the work is closed, as long as every re-measurement is done on time. You set the re-measurement interval per request, and Brytend raises an alert when one is overdue.
Can a supervisor approve before work starts?
Yes. Supervisor approval is an option you switch on in the module settings. When it is on, work may not start until the supervisor has approved the readings.
Can the gas analyst measure from a phone?
Yes. The analyst scans the QR label of the location on a phone or tablet, enters the readings and signs on screen.
